Mandate
Legal Aid Lesotho was established in 1978 under the Legal Aid Act of 1978. Its mandate is to provide legal representation to the indigent people in both civil and criminal matters in all courts of Law. This include Local courts, Central courts, Judicial Commissioner’s court, Magistrate courts (civil matters, criminal matters, District Land court and children’s court) Directorate of Dispute Prevention and Resolutions (DDPR) , Labour Court, Labour Appeal court, High court ( civil matters, criminal matters, Land court, commercial court and constitutional court) and Court of Appeal.
